The cup rhythm that everyone knows is at the very bottom of this page.
You already know that one, right?
Try some new ones......

Mambo Cup Rhythm

This eight beat cup rhythm is based on a well known Mambo bell pattern.
I love to have kids do this along with a recording of Santana's "Oye Como Va."

Here is a very simple cup rhythm to start with.  Easy.  No, it's not the one you already know.    It was taught to me by a student, I don't know who wrote it, but Thank You!!  my students love it.....

Buleria Cup Rhythm

This cup rhythm is based on the Flamenco rhythm called 'Buleria'
It is, simply, 123 123 12 12 12
Yes, Americans know it well because of Leonard Bernstein's use of this rhythm in West Side Story,
the song 'America' on the roof top.
Do this rhythm fast, but not too fast...

Triple Meter Cup Rhythm

This rhythm was created by Kristen Butcher and then modified slightly by me
to make a simple rhythm for my 8th grade class.  Enjoy!

The one everybody knows.......

Here is a quick explanation of the one that most everyone knows and starts with.
Ya..... my friend Kim C. taught this to me many years ago and inspired me to write a bunch of new ones with specific music learning goals.
