How do I write rhythms?
1..... Mostly I don't. Use standard rhythms known the world over. Get a book of rhythms like these....Stick bag Book of Latin Percussion, Amsco Publications
Stick bag Book of World Rhythms and Percussion, Amsco Publications
Stick bag book of Jazz Funk and Fusion, Amsco Publications
Use your vocabulary of sounds put them into body percussion.
2. Turn on your drum machine, or find loops of rhythms online, in Mixcraft (yay, LOVE Mixcraft!!!!) or Garageband ( has a few!) Play along with these rhythms til you figure out how to do them. Most of us can't do them all with only one body to work with. Write it out to be done with 2 or more people. More fun that way anyway.
3.. What song do you want body percussion to go along with? Play the song over and over and start clapping and tapping along until you find just the right rhythm. Caution, make sure you write it down or video tape your new rhyhms, cause they are easy to forget....
4. Experiment with how the rhythm feels on your body. Is it comfortable? Does it move easily from hands to feet. Do you want to add 'beatboxing' to help it along?
